There are several community-based self-help groups for people who are struggling with compulsive sexual behaviors, and for partners, family or friends who may be be affected by someone’s compulsive behaviors.
Many of these self-help groups are based on a set of guiding principles that outline a course of action for recovery from addiction or other compulsive behavioral problems. Originally proposed by Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) as a twelve-step method of recovery from alcoholism, these principles have been adapted to become the foundation of other twelve-step programs, including the ones whose links are provided here.
Most addiction professionals believe that participation in a community support program is an essential part of the recovery and healing process.
